Stay Tuned @ The Funny Bone

At noon I noticed 3 guys running around; one with a sound boom, another with a video camera and the last with some other type of equipment. What’s this, a reality show? At the Funny Bone? Yep…

I never really thought of the concept of what goes into putting on a show at a comedy club until I sat down and spoke to Rick, Operations Manager at the club. “When people show up, everything’s already done. This show will give you an inside peek at what it actually takes to pull that show off.”

Aside from booking an act, sound, lighting, staffing, music, props, D.J.’s and all of the other intricacies involved, the show could very well capture that moment when an act cancels at the last minute. “To fill the void is a feat in itself.”

I asked whether or not the crew might be shooting through one of the shows. “It’s very likely that could happen, said Rick.”

The Funny Bone entertainment complex is such a massive facility. There is The Funny Bone for comedy, then there’s The Hairless Monkey Bar for karaoke & parties and not lastly, there is this humongous patio bar, which is an outside lounge in itself.

A new feature at The Funny Bone will be the concert series with nationally signed musical groups performing one Wednesday of each month. As an extra added bonus, ladies drink absolutely free until 10 pm on Tuesdays! [That’s like all night] There’s no cover & guys can pick up on 2-4-1’s at the same time. Besides liquor flowing freely through the house, Tuesday’s are also karaoke night.

Comedy runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights with free tickets given to firefighters, police, military and a host of other city workers [call to inquire]. The only exception to that would be special engagements with contractual obligations.

“If you’ve ever had a bad experience, give us a second shot. If you’ve had a good experience, come get another one and bring friends. “

In the meantime, The Bone is searching for the right network and the right deal.

Stay tuned!
