Caddo Lake State Park
This is a maze of sloughs, bayous and ponds surrounded by lush vegetation and aquatic plants. From Shreveport, take I-20 West and travel North of Karnack, Tx. Continue 1 mile on State Hwy. 43 to FM 2198. Go East for ½ mile to Park Road 2. The park is 15 miles Northeast of Marshall, Tx.
Driskill Mountain
This area is densely forested as is common in the piney woods. The strata contains quite a bit of ferrous sandstone. Driskill Mountain is the highest point in Bienville Parish. 509 feet above sea level. Take I-20 East from Shreveport. Take exit 67 South for 1.7 miles to Arcadia. Go South on SR 147 for 7.4 miles. Turn right on SR 797 and continue for 3.7 miles. Turn right onto SR 507 at T-intersection and continue for 1.0 mile to the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church parking lot.
Eddie D. Jones Park
A 1-½ mile hiking trail and 5 miles of horseback riding trails. Rugged trails. From Shreveport, take I-20 West to Industrial Loop and head South. Turn right onto Woolworth Road and continue to intersection with LA 525 (Colquitt Road). Turn right and travel 1.1 miles to LA 789. Turn left at LA 789 and travel 2 miles to Mike Clark Road. Turn right on Mike Clark Road (next to Macedonia Baptist Church) and follow the road to visitor center.
Kisatchie Hills Wilderness Area Trails:
Backbone High Ridge, Turpentine Hill and The Explorer Trails:
Take I-49 South from Shreveport and exit at Hwy. 6 in Natchitoches. Drive West on Hwy. 6 for 7 miles. Turn left on Louisiana Hwy. 117 and travel 16 miles to Forest Hwy. 59, Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway. Turn left on FH 59 and go to FR 339 or FR 329 for trailheads.
Lake Claiborne State Park
White Tail Hiking Trail, Dogwood Nature Trail, Muscadine Hiking Trail, King of the Mountain Nature Trail, Scenic Overlook Path and Whispering Pines Bike Trail. Head East on I-20 from Shreveport. Take Hwy. 79 North at Minden and head East on LA 518. Turn East onto LA 146. The park is less than a mile from LA 146.
Adventure Trail – 21 miles
Situated on the western shore of a 200-year-old-lake, this trail boasts magnificent natural surroundings. I-20 East from Shreveport. Follow Lake Bistineau signs. 103 State Park Road, Doyline, La. (318) 745-3503
Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail
Nationally recognized for it’s historic and scenic values. Hike or bike through a very diverse ecosystem from boggy bottomland to hillside pine groves to lakeshore views of Upper Caney Lake. Kisatchie National Forest, 3288 Hwy. 79, Homer, La. 71040 (318) 927-2061
Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park
160-acre nature park contains a pine-oak-hickory forest accessible by 5 miles of nature trails. Several naturalists available for info and interpretation to visitors. 8012 Blanchard Furrh Road, Shreveport, La. (318)929-2806
